Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps July 28, 1941 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine ‘the Fighting Fourth’ Division. Participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima, Code Name: Operation Detachment. Monday, February 19, 1945 he was killed in action on the first day of the invasion and buried in the Fourth Marine Division battlefield cemetery on Iwo. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his country and family, with interment in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Virginia. This Marine, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
