Activity During WWII

She spent two years at the start of WWII working as a welder at the Douglas Aircraft Plant in Long Beach, California. She was living in Los Angeles, saw an advertisement in the newspaper for work at the airfield, signed up, and after one month of training, went to work assembling bomb bays. She became one of the original 'Rosie the Riveters' as she was petite in stature, making it possible for her to maneuver in the confined space, where she was an inside 'rivet bucker'. She would carpool with fellow Rosie's from Los Angeles to Long Beach on a daily basis.
