Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. Served in the Pacific Theater as a Rifleman assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine ‘the Silent Second’ Division. Participated in the amphibious assault on the island of Tinian (Battle Dates: Monday, July 24–August 1, 1944) Northern Mariana Islands Campaign. Tuesday, October 17, 1944 he was killed in action during mop-up operations, after all organized resistances had ceased with the Japanese Imperial forces and buried in the Marine Corps Battlefield Cemetery on Tinian. Previously, he was involved in combat operations on Saipan, Mariana Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his family, with interment in the Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, Michigan. This Marine, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
