Activity During WWII

Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps November 11, 1943 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, Fifth Marine ‘The Spearhead/Fighting Fifth’ Division. He participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Battle Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945), Code Name: Operation Detachment. Killed in action and buried in the Fifth Marine Division battlefield cemetery on Iwo. His remains returned to his family after the cessation of hostilities with Japan. Laid to rest in the Clinton Cemetery in New Beaver, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1949. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
