Activity During WWII

Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps in May, 1944 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat assigned to Alpha Company, Amphibian Transport Group, 6th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, an element of the 1st Marine ‘the Old Breed’ Division. He participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Peleliu, one of the Palau Islands of the Western Pacific (Battle Dates: September 15-November 25, 1944), Code Name: Operation Stalemate II. Killed in action Saturday, October 7, 1944 and buried in the United States Armed Forces battlefield cemetery on Peleliu. His remains transferred to Manila, with interment in the American cemetery located at Fort Bonifacio, Philippine Islands after the cessation of hostilities with Japan. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This Marine, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
