Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Army July 15, 1943 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Deployed to the European Theater after completing his Basic Combat Infantry Training and experienced combat with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 391st Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry ‘Make Ready’ Division attached to the U.S. First Army. Killed in action Friday, January 19, 1945, when his division went on the offensive, attacking and capturing the town of Vielsalm, Belgium and buried in a battlefield cemetery in Eupen, Belgium. His remains transferred to the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery located at Henri-Chapelle, Belgium after the cessation of hostilities in Europe. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This Soldier, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
