Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps August 10, 1942 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at the Marine Corps Fourth Separate Recruit Battalion Training Center, New River, North Carolina. Served in the Pacific Theater and experienced combat as a Rifleman, assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Marine Regiment, Third Marine ‘The Fighting Third’ Division. He participated in the Battle of Bougainville, Code Name: Operation Cherry Blossom (Battle Dates: November 1, 1943-August 21, 1945) Solomon Islands Campaign. Reported missing in action Wednesday, November 17, 1943 and memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, located at Fort Bonifacio, Philippine Islands. Decoration and Citation: Purple Heart. This Marine, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
