Drafted on January 31, 1946, and assigned to the Eight Army. Trained in Aberdeen, Maryland to learn automotive parts for repair of Jeeps, 3/4 ton Dodge Trucks, 2-1/2 ton GMC Trucks, General Sherman Tanks and comparable water vehicles. Was sent to Yokohama, Japan and then Koshien where he ordered and maintained automotive parts for about 100,000 vehicles. His job was to anticipate parts needed and maintain a substantial advance inventory. Discharged from the Service late August, 1948.
