U.S. Army Combat Engineer 22 August 1941 to 20 October 1945. He was working at a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Rawlings, Wyoming when he got his draft notice. He returned to Oklahoma and went to boot camp at Fort Sill. He was in the 102nd Engineer Battalion attached to the 27th Infantry Division. He spent some time in Hawaii as part of the Island Defense then participated in battles in three different Pacific Island groups. He made it through almost the entire war before being seriously wounded on Okinawa on 19 May 1945. He spent the rest of his time recovering from his wounds and was discharged after the wars end from Menlo Park, California. His awards were a Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with three battle stars and one arrowhead for an amphibious landing on Saipan, American Defense and WWII Victory Medal.
