HE ENLISTED IN AUGUST 1942 AND SERVED ABOARD THE USS CALLAWAY APA-35 (ASSAULT TRANSPORT) IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATRE OF OPERATIONS. HE SERVED THROUGH SIX BATTLE CAMPAIGNS INCLUDING THE KWAJALEIN OPERATION, THE SAIPAN OPERATION, THE OCCUPATION OF SOUTHERN PALAU, THE LEYTE LANDINGS, AND THE LINGAYAN LANDINGS. LATER STATIONED AT THE U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY AT NEW LONDON, CONNECTICUT. HE WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED ON OCTOBER 20, 1945. HE WAS THE RECIPIENT OF THE COMBAT ACTION RIBBON, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC MEDAL WITH SIX BRONZE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL, THE NAVY OCCUPATION MEDAL (WITH ASIA CLASP), THE PHILIPPINE PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH TWO BRONZE STARS.
