Rank: Corporal. Japanese Prisoner of War for 34½ months. Served with Delta Battery, 60th Anti-aircraft Regiment, the Harbor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays stationed on the Island of Corregidor ‘The Rock’ located in the Philippine Islands. He participated in the Battle of Corregidor (Battle Dates: May 5-6, 1942) and captured by the Japanese Imperial forces on the second day of the invasion, when his Commander, General Wainwright capitulated to the enemy forces on May 6, 1942. Evacuated by barge to the Manila area and incarcerated in the Old Bilibid Prisoner of War Camp and the Cabanatuan #1 Prisoner of War Camp on Luzon. Later transported to Japan and held in captivity at the Prisoner of War Osaka Main Camp Chikko, Osaka #18 Wakinohama. Wednesday, March 21, 1945 he died of unknown causes and buried in the Yokohama Cemetery in Japan. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were transferred to the American Cemetery located at Fort Bonifacio in Manila, Philippines Islands. This Solider, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
