Activity During WWII

5th Air Force, 19th Bomb Group, 435th Bomb Squadron. On August 14, 1942, he was gunner of B-17 'Chief Of Seattle', flying on a reconnaissance mission of New Guinea, Rabaul, and the Solomon Islands area. After take off, nothing was ever heard from this bomber again and was officially declared missing in action. Purple Heart.
