Activity During WWII

Rank. 2nd Lieutenant. Inducted into the United States Army September 15, 1942 at Denver, Colorado. Deployed to the European Theater after the completion of his combat infantry training and served with the 143rd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry ‘Arrowhead’ Division attached to the U.S. Seventh Army. He participated in the amphibious assault landing during the invasion of Southern France, Code Name: Operation Dragon. Killed in Action Tuesday, August 15, 1944 in the area of Marseilles on the first day of the invasion and buried in the Draguignan Battlefield Cemetery in Saint Raphael, France. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were transferred to the Rhone American Cemetery located at Draguignan (Var), France. Decorations and Citations: Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. This Soldier, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
