Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Army February 23, 1943 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Deployed to the European Theater after the completion of his combat infantry training and served with the 15th Regiment, 3rd Infantry ‘Rock of Marne’ Division attached to the U.S. Seventh Army. He participated in the amphibious assault landing during the invasion of Southern France, Code Name: Operation Dragon. Killed in Action Saturday, August 19, 1944 near St. Maxime and buried in the Draguignan Battlefield Cemetery in Saint Raphael, France. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were transferred to the Rhone American Cemetery located at Draguignan (Var), France. Decorations and Citations: Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. This Soldier, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
