Activity During WWII

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day as a historian. He was also assigned to the White House in top secret intelligence observing military strategy sessions and attended international conferences with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. He was with President Truman in 1945 when he approved the use of atomic weapons in the waning days of the war. He decoded the message announcing that the bomb had been dropped on Hiroshima and hand delivered it to President Truman.
