Participated in the D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France with the 82nd Airborne Division, Parachute Infantry Regiment 507, Company B, 1st Battalion. Landed near Graignes, France and fought in the Battle of Graignes. Captured by Germans and held as a prisoner of war for 10 months near Leipzig, Germany.
