Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps February 1, 1943 and received his Basic Combat Infantry Training at Camp Pendleton Oceanside, California. Served with the First Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, Reinforced, First Provisional Marine Brigade. He participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Guam, Code Name: Operation Forager, Mariana Islands. Killed in Action Friday, July 21, 1944 on the first day of the invasion while engaged in combat with the Japanese Imperial forces and buried in the Brigade Cemetery on the slopes of Mount Alifan overlooking the Orote Peninsula. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his family, with interment in the Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale, Michigan. In Memory, his name is inscribed on the Memorial Wall, Panel 5 located on the Asan Bay Overlook, Guam. This Marine, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
