Activity During WWII

HE REINSTATED HIS COMMISSIONED OFFICER STATUS IN 1944 AFTER UNDERGRADUATE STUDY AT THE MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY. HE ATTENDED BOOT CAMP IN SAN DIEGO, WAS SUBSEQUENTLY COMMISSIONED AS AN ENSIGN AND THEN WAS ASSIGNED THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE WAR TO THE PUGET SOUND NAVAL SHIPYARD. HE SERVED AS A SHIP SUPERINTENDENT AND THEN AS A MANAGEMENT ENGINEER. SELECTED AS AIDE TO THE SHIPYARD COMMANDER, HE WAS PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT JUNIOR GRADE IN 1946.
