Activity During WWII

Joined the United States Marine Corps March 26, 1943 and went directly to Camp Pendleton. When he went to Hawaii, he was first stationed in Honolulu at a desk job. He asked to be transferred to a fighting unit and was sent to Maui, Hawaii to the 4th Marine Division and joined the 24th Marine Regiment (I-3-24). In late 1943 or early 1944, his unit went to New Caledonia and was there for several months. He then returned to Maui and was in the assault of Iwo Jima in February of 1945. He was Honorably discharged from Great Lakes Naval Station on December 14, 1945.
