Served as an Artillery forward observer and liaison officer to Company A, 359th Infantry as part of the 915th Field Artillery Battalion supporting the 90th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations. Was on Utah beach on D-Day. Earned the Silver Star with oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star with V Device, Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with arrowhead and five campaign stars, WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
