Activity During WWII

HE enlisted on 6 December 1940 at the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station in Springfield, Massachusetts. His training completed at the Naval Training School in Newport, Rhode Island, qualified him as Gunner's Mate Second Class. Completed additional training at Fleet Service School, U.S. NAVAL Repair Base in San Diego, California. HE served in Pearl Harbor on the USS Louisville which provided escort of troop transports, patrolled the region to protect American bases and provided battle support. He also served on the USS Norton Sound in the South Pacific. Awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with 5 stars, American Defense SERVICE Medal with 1 star and American Theater Medal. He was honorably discharged in March 1945.
