Activity During WWII

HE enlisted in U.S. Army in Boston, Massachusetts, entering active service on 7 February 1944. He was trained as a Rifleman, certified for the Marksman M1 Rifle on 8 April 1944. Departed for the European Theater on 15 November 1944, arriving 26 November 1944 where he participated in the Rhineland Campaign. He was wounded in action on 4 March 1945 in Germany when a land mine injured both feet and one of his legs. Departed Europe on 9 May 1945, returning to the U.S. on 24 May 1945 and was honorably discharged from the Army on 13 November 1946. HE was awarded a Purple Heart as well as the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Theater Ribbon AND 1 Overseas SERVICE Bar.
