HE was inducted into the U.S. Army on 26 December 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, entering active service 1 January 1943. Following training in California, he served in the South Pacific from 7 September 1943 to 25 January 1946. As part of his deployment, his group provided defense of the New Hebrides Islands from invasion by Japan due to its strategic location between the U.S. and Australia. HE WAS honorably discharged on 3 February 1946 as a result of demobilization.
