Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Army June 6, 1942 at Portland, Oregon and deployed to the Pacific Theater of Operations after the completion of his Basic Combat Infantry Training. Experienced combat as a Rifleman assigned to Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 322nd Infantry Regiment, 81st Infantry ‘Wildcat’ Division attached to the III Marine Amphibious Corps. He participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Angaur located in the Palau Islands (Battle Dates: September 17-October 22, 1944), Code Name: Operation Forager. Killed in Action Saturday, September 23, 1944 and buried in the United States Armed Forces Battlefield Cemetery #2 located at Manila, Philippine Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his family, with interment in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows ‘IOOF’ Cemetery in Kings Valley, Oregon. This Solider, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
