Activity During WWII

Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Army April 5, 1944 at Fort McPherson, Georgia and served in the European Theater of Operations. Experienced combat as a member of Able Company, 309th Infantry Regiment, and a subordinate unit of the 78th Infantry ‘Lightning’ Division attached to the United States First Army. Killed in action Wednesday, December 13, 1944 during an assault on the Siegfried Line near Kesternich, Germany and buried in the Henri-Chapelle battlefield cemetery in Ellpen, Belgium. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were returned to his family, with interment in the Mars Hill Cemetery in Brilliant, Alabama. This Soldier, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
