Activity During WWII

He was sent to Ft. Benning, Georgia for basic training. From Ft. Benning he went to Camp Shanks, Mississippi to join the 94th Division. He became a pioneer in the mine platoon of the anti-tank company of the 302 infantry regiment. Soon after this he boarded the Queen Elizabeth en route to England and then across the English Channel to France where he began combat as a Private First Class. His campaigns and battles in Europe included Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), the Rhineland and Central Europe. His last area was Czechoslovakia. For most of the time the 94th Division was a part of Patton’s 3rd Army or the 9th Army. Among the award and citations he received were Expert Infantry, Combat Infantry and the Bronze Star.
