Activity During WWII

Rank: Private 1st Class. Inducted into the United States Army May 14, 1943 at Rapid City, South Dakota. Deployed to the European Theater of Operations after the completion of his Combat Infantry Training. Served as a member of Golf Company, 117th Infantry Regiment, a subordinate unit of the 30th Infantry ‘Old Hickory’ Division attached to the U.S. Ninth Army. Killed in Action Thursday, October 26, 1944 during the Capture/Occupation of Aachen, Germany and buried in the Henri-Chapelle Battlefield Cemetery in Ellpen, Belgium. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were returned to his family, with interment in the Saint James Episcopal Cemetery in Cannon Ball, North Dakota. This Soldier, a Patriot who so gallantly gave his life for his country, was a Native American, a descendant of the Sioux Indian Tribe.
