served aboard the merchant ship Examelia as radio officer. his ship was torpedoed by a German u-68 20 miles south of the cape of good hope on October 9,1942. u-68 was sunk by aircraft from the USS Guadalcanal northwest of Madeira, Portugal on April 10, 1944. decorations: American campaign medal and WWII victory medal.
