Activity During WWII

Enlisted on 27 February 1942 at Louisville, Kentucky. Discharged on 12 December 1945. Served on the USS Republic AP-33 on the San Francisco to Honolulu run transporting troops. Reported aboard the USS Rixey APH-3, a casualty evacuation transport ship. Saw much combat in the Pacific Theater of Operations as it was fitted with weapons for her defense to operate where the Marines were engaged with the Japanese forces. Transferred to the USS Bronx APA-236 Commissioning crew. Rank of Seaman First Class.
