He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the 2nd Air Division Association, the 389th Bomb Squad Division. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He served in 9 Battles and Campaigns: Sicilian Campaign, Air Combat, Naples-Foggia Campaign, Air Offensive Europe, Normandy Campaign, North France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the Middle Eastern Service Medal with 9 Bronze Stars. He also received a medal from the French Government for the liberation of Normandy.
