Crossed Utah Beach on 8 June 1944, as a Private (E1). Assigned to 5th Infantry Division as a member of General George S. Patton's 3rd U.S. Army. Fought in 6 Campaigns for the Liberation of France. Participated in the relief of Bastogne. Awarded Bronze Star, French Legion of Honour, French Croix de Guerre, French Fourragerre, and Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB). Participated in 333 days of continuous combat. On 8 August 1945, at the end of the war, he was a Technical Sergeant (E7).
