Activity During WWII

Served with the Texas 36th Infantry Division, 142nd Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company A from 1943 - 1945 for a total of 400 days in combat. He and his Division landed at the Port of Oran in Algeria (North Africa) where he crossed into France. He fought in five major campaigns in the European Theater of Operations: Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, including the battles of Monte Cassino, Salerno, Saint-Raphael, Vosges and Castle Itter. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievements in combat and was also awarded the EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze stars and Distinguished Unit Badge.
