Served with the 29th Division and landed on Omaha Beach (Normandy) June 6th, 1944. Received the Purple Heart with oak leaf clusters for injuries sustained in the town of Vierville Sur Mer in Normandy. He was transported to Great Britain for surgery and after months of recovery was transported back Stateside.
