Activity During WWII

Entered active service as a draftee on November 19, 1942 at Chicago, Illinois. Completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Field Lineman (641). Departed the U.S. on July 5, 1944 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with Headquarters Battery, 317th Field Artillery Battalion, 81st 'Wildcat' Infantry Division, through the Western Pacific and Southern Philippine Islands Campaigns and performed occupational duties in Aomori Prefecture of Japan. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze arrowhead (assault landing) and 2 bronze battle stars, WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Honorably discharged as a 1st Sergeant on January 15, 1946 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
