Drafted in June, 1944, U.S. Army, Artillery. Basic Training: Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Shipped Out December, 1944. Arrived in the South Pacific in February, 1945, Assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division. Stops in Guadalcanal and New Guinea. Combat Duty for four months in the Philippine Islands. Promoted to Master Sergeant at the age of 18. Part of the First Wave of Occupational Forces to arrive in Japan.
