Activity During WWII

Entering service in 1941, he was a member of Marine Squadron VMSB-241 and served as a gunner on a SB2U Vindicator. During the Battle of Midway, his aircraft survived an attack on the enemy battleship Haruna, but was lost about 10 miles from Midway. For his valor in defense of our nation, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.
