Activity During WWII

In September 1943, he responded to the call of duty to serve in the United States Navy during WWII. He served aboard the USS Lake which was a destroyer escort sent off into the Pacific Theater of Operations to protect convoys and other ships from Japanese submarines and fighter aircraft. He received the following commendations from Lieutenant Commander S. Ribakoff of the United States Naval Reserve and Executive Officer of the USS Lake: the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one silver star, the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with one star, and an American Campaign Ribbon. He crossed the equator eight times during his service and received an Honorable Discharge from active duty in October, 1945.
