He was a member of the 1337th Army Air Force base unit in Sookerating, in the state of Assam, India, during WWII. He worked as a Clerk Typist and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal With 2 Bronze Stars, also the Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army Air Forces on October 20, 1945 at Greensboro, North Carolina.
