Activity During WWII

He was inducted on April 22, 1941 at Camp Grant, Illinois and served until his discharge September 28, 1945. Assigned to the Field Artillery, he participated in the Louisiana Maneuvers and eventually was deployed to the Aleutian Islands in May 1942, weeks before the beginning of the Aleutians Campaign. He spent two years in the Aleutians before departing for the U.S. in July of 1944. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with one Bronze Star, the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He finished his service in the Army assigned to Field Artillery Training Detachment #3 at the Field Artillery School based at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
