Activity During WWII

Rank: 1st Lieutenant. Served with the 17th Signal Platoon attached to Lima Company, Third Battalion an element of the Second Infantry Regiment in the Philippine Islands. He participated in the Philippine Islands Campaign (Battle Dates: December 8, 1941-May 6, 1942), the conquest of the Philippine Islands by the Imperial Japanese Army and Naval Forces. Killed in Action Tuesday, December 30, 1941 and buried in the United States Armed Forces Cemetery, Manila #1 Philippine Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his remains were returned to his family for burial, with interment at the Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The Lieutenant, an American Patriot awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life in the defense of his country.
