Member of the 26th Yankee Division, 104th Infantry Regiment, Headquarters company 1st Battalion, anti-tank. Loader for 57mm, Towed anti-tank gun. Also detailed to General George S. Patton Jr.'s 4th Armored Division. He was detailed out to ride on the back of a Sherman Tank to prevent the enemy from attacking the tank from behind. He landed in Cherbourg, France as the first American Unit to travel directly from the U.S. to France. At the end of the war, his unit ceased hostilities in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.
