Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. On March 4, 1941, he entered the United States Army at Santa Fe, New Mexico, later deployed to the European Theater of Operations upon the completion of his combat infantry training. Served with the 41st Infantry Battalion, an element of the Second Armored ‘Hell on Wheels’ Division attached to the U.S. First Army. His division went ashore on Omaha Beach, Battle of Normandy, June 9, 1944, the assault on the German Army defenses. Killed in Action Tuesday, June 13, 1944 in the Battle of Carentan, France and buried in the La Cambe battlefield cemetery in Isigny, France. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his remains were transferred to the Normandy American Cemetery located at Colleville-sur-Mer, France. This Soldier, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life in the defense of his country.
