Activity During WWII

Entered into active service in the United States Navy on October 5, 1943. He did his basic training and advanced service training at Great Lakes Naval Station, Illinois. He was then transferred to Amphibious Training Base, Camp Bradford and then to Navy Operating Base, Norfolk, both in Virginia. He was assigned as a Gunner's Mate on LST-936 and supported Naval operations in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, participating in the Mindanao Island Landings in March and April of 1945. He received the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with one star, the Philippine Liberation Medal with one star, and the American Area Campaign Medal. He attained the rank of Gunner's Mate Third Class and was honorably discharged on January 16, 1946.
