He proudly served his country when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 during WWII. He served with the segregated 325th Port Company in Europe. His unit delivered crucial supplies during the Normandy Invasion. He saw action on the front lines delivering fuel and other provisions to General George Patton’s Third Army. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
