HE served in the U.S. Army Air Force from APRIL 1943 to NOVEMBER 1945. His duties included switchboard operator and telephone line installation. He was assigned to the 301st Troop Carrier Squadron which utilized C-47 planes to carry troops and cargo. The 301st Troop Carrier Squadron was part of two major military operations during WWII: Operation Overlord (D-Day) and Operation Market Garden. For his service he was awarded the American Campaign Medal.
