Served in the 253rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion Headquarters, 63rd Infantry Division. His unit fought from France through the Siegfried Line and liberated the Kaufering Concentration Camp (Dachau). He participated in the production of GI Carmen until his return home. He received the WWII Victory medal, Good Conduct medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, European Campaign medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
