Rank: Private. On October 16, 1943, he entered the United States Army at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, later deployed to the European Theater of Operations after the completion of his combat infantry training. Served as a Rifleman, assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 115th Infantry Regiment a subordinate unit of the 29th Infantry ‘Blue and Gray’ Division attached to the U.S. 1st Army. Killed in Action Tuesday, July 18, 1944 during the capture/occupation of Saint Lo, France and buried in the La Combe Battlefield Cemetery near Isigny, France. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, his family received his remains for burial, with interment February 15, 1948 at the Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery in Booneville, Mississippi. This Soldier, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life in the defense of his country.
