Enlisted on 19 July 1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. Served in the European and Pacific Theaters of Operation aboard the USS Weeden DE-797, a Buckley Class Destroyer Escort assigned to Escort Division 56. Sailed from Boston on 4 July 1944 for Bizerte, Tunisia and returned to Boston. Sailed again in September for Bizerte, Tunisia, diverted to Plymouth, England to escort a convoy of LST'S to Boston. 28 January 1945 sailed for the Pacific fleet and assignment to the Philippine Sea Frontier. Sailed in April, 1945 for Hollandia, New Guinea and Okinawa. Was at Subic Bay, Philippine Islands at war end. Rating of Seaman First Class.
