Activity During WWII

Served with the 23rd U.S. Naval Construction Battalion. Commissioned on September 4, 1942 and left September 5 to go to Davisville for advanced training and then to Port Hueneme. On November 2, 1942, left Seattle for Kodiak, Alaska. After 14 months in the Aleutian Islands, arrived at Camp Parks for leave. On June 20, 1944, left Port Hueneme and after a month of training boarded SS Cape Nedic for the 1st leg of their overseas tour. On October 16, 1944, left Pearl Harbor on SS George Flavel for the next leg to Eniwetok, then Guam.
