Rank: Private 1st Class. On November 27, 1943, he entered the United States Army at Tulsa, Oklahoma. Deployed to the Pacific Theater of Operations, serving as a Rifleman with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 165th Infantry Regiment a subordinate unit of the 27th Infantry 'O'Ryan's Roughnecks' Division. His Division participated in the Battle of Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands against the Imperial Japanese Army and Naval forces (Battle Dates: Easter Sunday, April 1–June 22, 1945) Code Name: Operation Iceberg. Killed in Action Monday, April 30, 1945 and buried in a Battlefield Cemetery on Okinawa. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family received his remains for burial, with interment at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. This Soldier, a Native American Citizen, a descendant of the Ponca Tribe so gallantly gave his life in the defense of his country.
